New Bands That Are Sucking You In

New Bands That Are Sucking You In

Postby DanteShepherd on Wed Jan 14, 2009 8:34 pm

You know how some bands you hear about them for the first time, you download one or two CDs, then replay them over and over again until suddenly you've listened to each song twenty times?

Well, the idea of this thread is to limit the number of times that happens by getting everyone to submit the latest song/band that has sucked you in, so that someone else can follow up with a new song/band for you to enjoy before you replay the first song/band so often that you come to hate it.

(In the Shepherd family, we call this constant-replay-to-hate the "Hootie and the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View" Effect.)

Anyway, feel free to toss in songs/bands below that you're into to help out the cause . . .

----------------------------

So, of course, we'll start it off, since we're the ones currently getting sucked in . . .

Right now, we can't stop listening to the Mountain Goats. Songs like "The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton" and "Color In Your Cheeks" are pretty much on constant loop for us right now. And considering how much we enjoy that live version of "Cheeks", we'd really like to enjoy it for a while.

So if you could toss something our way to help out . . .

We've loved Hallelujah the Hills for a while, but we've been replaying their "Wave Backwards to Massachusetts" in constant one song loops for the past week. Moving on to the new musical obsession . . .

Why Does It Always Rain On Me - Travis Curse you iTunes! Why must you tempt me with new music!?
Also, MC Frontalot's Goth Girls. I love nerdcore rap.

How can you not love the way the band is playing this song? Just extreme joy from every single member in the band, obviously expressing just how much they love what they do. We could watch this video on repeat a hundred times.

Song name: Cold Cold
Artist: Stephanie's Id

They're a pretty rockin' band. To be honest.

I have been absolutely obsessed with Emily Wells for the entire summer, and for a few years I haven't stopped listening to either Craig Cardiff or The Dresden Dolls. Not to mention Sia and Zero 7, whom I don't feel like linking to right now. YouTube them all.

The Dresden Dolls are a pretty awesome band.

My favorite from them to date is Coin Operated Boy.

I have found this new band called We On It Entertainment. Currently I'm hooked up with their songs. They are into hip hop/rap.

Not necessarily new, but I've been hooked on Fleet Foxes for some time now.

I was introduced to this song a couple of days ago and am pretty sure my neighbours are going to end up killing me for singing it so much...

Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin.

I have this friend who loves music and whenever he finds a new band he likes, he shows me it. I ignore it, but then about a year later a look the band up again and fall in love. That is how I found these to bands.
